I remember being around 11yrs old (circa '84) where I first started watching Friday the 13th parts I thru IV. Before seeing the films I was always fascinated by the ads in the newspaper and on TV. Ahh, the good old days.

Relive some of those days by watching a cool doc about Jason Voorhees. The sweetest part about this is all the original cast members make an appearance to talk about their scenes. It's interesting to check out n see how they've all aged. Most share some great insight into production and funny onset stories. Plus (make-up fx artist) Tom Savini hosts the doc to boot.
They even interview the chubby girl from part IV that gets stabbed from the back while eating a banana. Also, great interviews from the people that played Jason too. This is worth checking out if you're a Camp Crystal Lake fan.

I finally watched TGP on DVD. I've been waiting for a while to see this and was excited since its directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura. (Make up effects for "The Machine Girl") I wasn't let down. I think he has a future in J-Splatter films and hopefully he continues to make more.

The plot is crazy even for Japanese cinema standards: Set in a future-world vision of Tokyo where the police have been privatized and bitter self-mutilation is so casual that advertising is often specially geared to the "cutter" demographic, this is the story of samurai-sword-wielding Ruka and her mission to avenge her father's assassination. Ruka is a cop from a squad who's mission is to destroy homicidal mutant humans known as "engineers" possessing the ability to transform any injury to a weapon in and of itself. The flick is influenced by the low budget Herschell Gordon Lewis films of the 60's and 80's David Cronenberg films. One can definitely say there's a bit of Paul Verhoeven's Robocop in there. Along with the obvious influences from its own Japanese culture such as Yokai Monsters. The gore factor gives Peter Jackson's Dead Alive a run for its money. That combo alone should let you know this is some wacked out shit!I'm a big fan of Eihi Shiina from "Audition" fame. She kicks ass and is cool doing it. Nuff said.Normally I like to watch foreign films subtitled not dubbed. The subtitled version usually keeps the experience authentic, but in this case I recommend the dubbed version. The voice over makes this wacky ride even wackier and works well as this flick is so over the top. Almost animated. Either way you should watch the trailer now and buy this DVD. It's worthy of adding to your collection. Also, I'm hearing a prequel is now in the works. YEAH-ER.

Basically, in a nutshell...B Movie Legend Bruce Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon. The monster this time isn't a spirit that possesses the living. This time its Guan-di. An ancient evil protector of Bean Curd!

If you're a fan of the Evil Dead films then you're in for a goofy ride with Bruce. I wasn't disappointed. It's jam packed with inside jokes and references to the point that if you're not a fan or you've never checked out the Evil Dead films (or any of his flicks) you'll be lost. There's some fun decapitations and splattering sprinkled here and there to boot.

The lead chick and love interest works great with Ash, um, I mean Bruce.
And Grace Thorsen is also a hottie!Bruce is screening now nationwide - check it out here. In the meantime, here's the freakin' trailer:

The title pretty much tells it all. Killer pussies with parasites that munch off your penis. Ouch!

This shit is wacky as fuck which is exactly why it's not surprising it is from Japan. Shot on digital video with a lot of cheesy after effects and the parasite looks like a rubber puppet, but the doesn't matter. It's basically an excuse to see busty Japanese girls squirm in a bloody mess all over the place. It's sick and it's wonderful.

Before their pussies are invaded by the sexual parasite these girls decide they must party! With a running time of 60 minutes this flick is quick and a lot of fun. Also noteworthy is the intro which is a homage to the Dead Alive intro. And here's what a killer pussy looks like:Check out this trailer which is NSFW...so be careful, mofo!

The latest Troma film continues with more of the over-the-top splatter gore, musical numbers & edgy comedy. And also, it's got lesbians. And Ron Jeremy is in it. And it's a fuckin' blast!

If the title alone doesn't get ya, then the tagline will: Humans...the other white meat. Unless you're black, then it's dark meat. Or if you are Asian, then it's yellow meat. Or if you are Native American, it's red meat.

Directed by Troma head honcho Lloyd Kaufman who also co-stars and gets his nose ripped off. Actually, most cast members get torn apart...Low brow entertainment at its finest. No DVD release date yet - so here's the original theatrical trailer to tide ya over...

This is one of the more hardcore early 80's slashers. A schizoid, serial killer randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York, which he sees as revenge for the mistreatment while being raised by his own abusive mother.

So, it's the typical slasher, but the 2 things that make this stand out are: Joe Spinell is the Maniac. Ya might must recognize Joe from The Godfather & the Rocky films. He's the motherfuckin' man. Heavy drinker too. And number 2: Tom Savini did the super realistic (and gory) make-up effectsIf you gonna pick up the DVD, buy the Blue Underground version. It's the best out there and includes a Joe Spinell documentary that is mind blowin. Proceed with caution: This trailer is bloody...

The Deadly Spawn aka Return of The Aliens: The Deadly Spawn is an Alien rip-off flick. Actually the producers tried to add "Return" to the title to make it seem like the actual sequel to Alien. Tricky Bastards!

My favorite scene is when a group of old ladies are hanging out having a good time until the little alien babies invade their home and begin to suck their blood like leeches.

These aliens will gnaw your damn head off and spit out your fuckin' skull. This flick is super gory. A must see for any fan of the genre. Luckily, Synapse Films has put out a quality DVD worthy of picking up.

Eventually they take over the small town, growing bigger and bigger...

A young female has nightmares of violent murders and before you know it she finds her boyfriend dead. No, I'm not talkin' about Nightmare on Elm Street - this flick came out 2 years before. I'll call it the original dream slasher.

I found myself questioning is this her dream or reality? Oh my god! What's she gonna do? For christ's sake someone get me another beer. I'm not drunk enough yet!

The gore in this is pretty realistic and it has an overall creepy feel. It's trash and it's perfect for late nite viewing.

This thing is evil, it screams and it oozes puss - so don't fuck with it!At one point, an unaware girlfriend kisses her boyfriend's head just after it was decapitated. Now that's messed up.Allow me to quote the trailer: "If its only a nightmare...why is everybody DEAD?!"

Motel Hell taught me at an early age never to eat at a restaurant/ meathouse that 's located next to the motel your staying at. Why? Cause that burger your eating is made from motel guests. I think I got a pube caught between my teeth eating near a motel one time. I'll save that story for a later post though.

This slasher takes a bit from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and that's definitely a good thing. But, instead of a Leatherface skin mask you get a monstrous pig mask! All bullshit aside, I really love the chainsaw duel towards the end. Just thinkin' about it makes me tingly in the lower groin area because I'm a freak. Wolfman Jack is thrown in as the kooky town preacher. I guess that's a redundant statement since kooky and preacher go hand in hand. Anyway, Praise the Lord!

Whatever you do stay out of the motel bath! Don't these people ever learn?
This trailer has a great voice over that makes me think Eli Roth used this as a reference for his Thanksgiving trailer...

Three babies are born at the wrong time of the year making them killers by the age of 10! Another cheesy slasher flick that deserves some attention. Total body count in this lil gem is 8. Which is a bit low for my extreme taste but it still makes for some late night fun.

The best part of Bloody Birthday are the nude scenes of Julie Brown who's career peaked in Earth Girls Are Easy. I say forget that movie and check out this pic from Bloody Birthday. Damn, Julie Brown was hot back in the day!

She does a sexy little nude dance to put it over the top. Everybody knows a slasher flick ain't complete until we see some nudity. FACT.

An autistic (and creepy) boy gets a bath from his mom at one point of this movie and then his teddy bear starts talking to him. Because of this its hard to take your eyes off this little fuckin weirdo kid.

Eventually, he comes across man eating creatures in the forest called Trogs. Between the HORRIBLE acting, the Trogs and the last minute jokey ending this one is a classic piece of trash.

Watch ASAP.

This is the muther of all underwater Nazi/ Zombie movies. Wait, are there any other underwater Nazi/ Zombie movies? I'd imagine the answer would be no.

In the movie Peter "I'm at the end of my career so I'm drunk all day" Cushing plays a Nazi commandant on a remote island who fathers a group of zombies (known as The Death Corps). The budget must have been super low. No nighttime shots, all day shots. But that's okay cause this shit kicks ass.

I originally saw this at the New Beverly Cinema here in LA during one of their Grindhouse nights. It played as a double feature (of course) with Burial Ground. Fuck, that was a good double feature.

I just picked this up on DVD. Blue Underground is the company that released it. They put out a lot of great hardcore garbage.
At the bare minimum get some 70's beer (Pabst Blue Ribbon or Schlitz) and rent this mofo.

3 out of 4 exploited stars. See the freaky German trailer below...
