I remember being around 11yrs old (circa '84) where I first started watching Friday the 13th parts I thru IV. Before seeing the films I was always fascinated by the ads in the newspaper and on TV. Ahh, the good old days.
Most share some great insight into production and funny onset stories. Plus (make-up fx artist) Tom Savini hosts the doc to boot.
They even interview the chubby girl from part IV that gets stabbed from the back while eating a banana. Also, great interviews from the people that played Jason too.
This is worth checking out if you're a Camp Crystal Lake fan.Labels: friday the 13th, horror, nude, slasher, sleaze
I finally watched TGP on DVD. I've been waiting for a while to see this and was excited since its directed by Yoshihiro Nishimura. (Make up effects for "The Machine Girl") I wasn't let down. I think he has a future in J-Splatter films and hopefully he continues to make more.
The flick is influenced by the low budget Herschell Gordon Lewis films of the 60's and 80's David Cronenberg films. One can definitely say there's a bit of Paul Verhoeven's Robocop in there. Along with the obvious influences from its own Japanese culture such as Yokai Monsters. The gore factor gives Peter Jackson's Dead Alive a run for its money. That combo alone should let you know this is some wacked out shit!
I'm a big fan of Eihi Shiina from "Audition" fame. She kicks ass and is cool doing it. Nuff said.
Normally I like to watch foreign films subtitled not dubbed. The subtitled version usually keeps the experience authentic, but in this case I recommend the dubbed version. The voice over makes this wacky ride even wackier and works well as this flick is so over the top. Almost animated. Either way you should watch the trailer now and buy this DVD. It's worthy of adding to your collection. Also, I'm hearing a prequel is now in the works. YEAH-ER.Labels: amputee, ass kickin, gore, horror, japanese, mutations
Basically, in a nutshell...B Movie Legend Bruce Campbell is mistaken for his character Ash from the Evil Dead trilogy and forced to fight a real monster in a small town in Oregon. The monster this time isn't a spirit that possesses the living. This time its Guan-di. An ancient evil protector of Bean Curd!
There's some fun decapitations and splattering sprinkled here and there to boot.
Bruce is screening now nationwide - check it out here. In the meantime, here's the freakin' trailer:
The title pretty much tells it all. Killer pussies with parasites that munch off your penis. Ouch!
With a running time of 60 minutes this flick is quick and a lot of fun. Also noteworthy is the intro which is a homage to the Dead Alive intro. And here's what a killer pussy looks like:
Check out this trailer which is NSFW...so be careful, mofo!Labels: horror, hot girl, japanese, panty shots, penis
The latest Troma film continues with more of the over-the-top splatter gore, musical numbers & edgy comedy. And also, it's got lesbians. And Ron Jeremy is in it. And it's a fuckin' blast!
Low brow entertainment at its finest. No DVD release date yet - so here's the original theatrical trailer to tide ya over...
This is one of the more hardcore early 80's slashers. A schizoid, serial killer randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York, which he sees as revenge for the mistreatment while being raised by his own abusive mother.
If you gonna pick up the DVD, buy the Blue Underground version. It's the best out there and includes a Joe Spinell documentary that is mind blowin. Proceed with caution: This trailer is bloody...
The Deadly Spawn aka Return of The Aliens: The Deadly Spawn is an Alien rip-off flick. Actually the producers tried to add "Return" to the title to make it seem like the actual sequel to Alien. Tricky Bastards!
This flick is super gory. A must see for any fan of the genre. Luckily, Synapse Films has put out a quality DVD worthy of picking up.Labels: alien, ass kickin, blood, chainsaw, crazy, disturbed, horror, rip off
A young female has nightmares of violent murders and before you know it she finds her boyfriend dead. No, I'm not talkin' about Nightmare on Elm Street - this flick came out 2 years before. I'll call it the original dream slasher.
At one point, an unaware girlfriend kisses her boyfriend's head just after it was decapitated. Now that's messed up.
Allow me to quote the trailer: "If its only a nightmare...why is everybody DEAD?!"Labels: blood, disturbed, dream, freddy krueger, horror, nightmare on elm street, slasher
Motel Hell taught me at an early age never to eat at a restaurant/ meathouse that 's located next to the motel your staying at. Why? Cause that burger your eating is made from motel guests. I think I got a pube caught between my teeth eating near a motel one time. I'll save that story for a later post though.
All bullshit aside, I really love the chainsaw duel towards the end. Just thinkin' about it makes me tingly in the lower groin area because I'm a freak. Wolfman Jack is thrown in as the kooky town preacher. I guess that's a redundant statement since kooky and preacher go hand in hand. Anyway, Praise the Lord!
This trailer has a great voice over that makes me think Eli Roth used this as a reference for his Thanksgiving trailer...Labels: blood, chainsaw, garden, horror, leatherface, pig, slasher, wolfgang jack
Three babies are born at the wrong time of the year making them killers by the age of 10! Another cheesy slasher flick that deserves some attention. Total body count in this lil gem is 8. Which is a bit low for my extreme taste but it still makes for some late night fun.

This is the muther of all underwater Nazi/ Zombie movies. Wait, are there any other underwater Nazi/ Zombie movies? I'd imagine the answer would be no.
At the bare minimum get some 70's beer (Pabst Blue Ribbon or Schlitz) and rent this mofo.Labels: grindhouse, headaches, horror, nausea, pabst blue ribbon, schlitz, sea sickness, zombie
