This is one of the more hardcore early 80's slashers. A schizoid, serial killer randomly stalks and kills various young women in New York, which he sees as revenge for the mistreatment while being raised by his own abusive mother.

So, it's the typical slasher, but the 2 things that make this stand out are: Joe Spinell is the Maniac. Ya might must recognize Joe from The Godfather & the Rocky films. He's the motherfuckin' man. Heavy drinker too. And number 2: Tom Savini did the super realistic (and gory) make-up effectsIf you gonna pick up the DVD, buy the Blue Underground version.
