A nuclear plant leak turns a bus load of children into murderous atomic zombies with black fingernails.
These creepy kids can kill you just by hugging you! Bullets have no effect on these little bastards. The only way to stop them is to cut off their hands. The sound made when the zombified children are killed is made from the sound of cats in heat. Wow, this director is a genius. When you see the movie is so obvious the overdub is a cat. So bad, it's funny.
Check out the vid below for more demented kids killin' grown-ups by giving them a sweet hug...
I remember the original TV ads for The Children pretty vividly, and I sorta recall Siskel & Ebert naming it a "Dog of the Week" back when they were still on PBS. I finally saw the movie off the first Grindhouse Experience box set and it did not disappoint. They don't make'em like that anymore, and make of that what you will.
oh man! i love how the first 10min runs like a PSA on how NOT to do your job right...
Besides the utter lack of special effects (most deaths end w/ a harsh cut to black w/out actually seeing anything) & the lack of decent actors (everyone seems to really under/over act) it's a decent film.
I found it to be above average, not even by Grindhouse standards, particularly in the scoring & cinematography. There's some good composition & variety of shots used & the score really brings home the dread of happy townsfolk ready to embrace their children just to be burnt to a cinder.
"Demon Witch Child" was fun; it's like a pretty hardcore "Exorcist" ripoff. I love how evil the little girl is! When the townsfolk burn the grave, that is the best.
The template is generated by freakin' Tommy P. The best in exploitation cinema from kung-fu to horror to afrocentric. 70's style. Ya' stupid muthafucka!
i have that first Grindhouse boxset, must've missed this one...
